Open Mapping Guru — AI-Assisted Mapping with fAIr

Presented "AI assisted Mapping in an open and ethical way — fAIr" to the Open Mapping Guru (OM Guru) program, HOT's Asia-Pacific initiative that builds a regional network of dedicated and experienced OSM contributors, champions, and mappers. The OM Guru program — co-created with local OpenStreetMap communities — trains experienced mappers to lead training sessions, produce learning materials, and support open mapping activities across the region.

The presentation introduced fAIr's capabilities to over 200 active Gurus, demonstrating how AI model training works, how volunteers can validate AI predictions, and how the tool integrates with standard OSM workflows. The session helped equip community leaders with the knowledge to introduce AI-assisted mapping in their local contexts across Asia-Pacific.
