Judge · Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team
Served as a judge at GeoAI Hack 2025, co-organised by InstaDeep and datacraft as a fringe event of the AI Action Summit in Paris. Teams competed to build an operational AI-powered early warning system for Africa's desert locust crisis, using satellite data, UN FAO Locust Hub observations, and InstaGeo — an open-source geospatial ML framework. Judging criteria encompassed both predictive performance and real-world operationalization potential.
The judging and deliberation phase took place on February 5th, evaluating 24 competing teams. The hackathon was one of 35 projects showcased at the AI Action Summit ecosystem and demonstrated the expanding frontier of AI and geospatial data for humanitarian early warning.
