State of the Map 2022 — Academic Track

"Investigating the capability of UAV imagery for AI-assisted mapping of Refugee Camps in East Africa" — co-authored paper presented at the State of the Map 2022 Academic Track in Florence, Italy. The paper explores how unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) imagery can enhance AI-assisted mapping workflows for refugee camp monitoring and humanitarian response planning in East Africa.

The research was conducted as part of HOT's broader work on AI-assisted mapping, examining the resolution, accuracy, and practical value of drone imagery versus satellite imagery for training and running ML models in low-resource humanitarian contexts.
