Presented "Free and Open Source AI Assisted Mapping: fAIr" at FOSS4G Global 2025 alongside Kshitij Raj Sharma and Leen D'hondt at Auckland University of Technology. The talk covered fAIr's full architecture as a free and open-source AI-assisted mapping service — from the community-trainable ML model pipeline and the open dataset creation tools, to the integration with OpenStreetMap and the validation workflow.
The global FOSS4G conference brings together thousands of open-source geospatial practitioners; presenting there placed fAIr in front of a broad developer and practitioner audience and reinforced HOT's commitment to building transparent, community-owned AI for geographic data production.
Note: I was part of the submission and speaker group for this talk but did not attend the conference in person — the presentation was delivered on-site in Auckland by co-presenters Kshitij Raj Sharma and Leen D'hondt.
